IRD is expanding its global presence, and in preparation for this growth we are collecting resumes to build a strong candidate pool for possible job openings in the near future. IRD is seeking Agribusiness and Value Chain Development Advisor candidates for Southern Afghanistan.

The Agribusiness and Value Chain Development Advisor will be responsible for driving excellence in the following areas: the design and implementation of value chain development programming in southern Afghanistan. In addition, the Agribusiness and Value Chain Development Advisor will partner with Afghan staff and the Government of Afghanistan to develop sustainable market linkages within Afghanistan and internationally; will guide and support the implementation of post harvest handling, processing, transportation and terminal market access interventions tailored to small holder farmers in southern Afghanistan; will ensure agribusiness and value chain oriented programming supports the overall U.S. Government growth and stabilization strategies for southern Afghanistan and will grow, mentor and aid the management of private sector and non-governmental Afghan partnering organizations in the successful implementation of program objectives.

REQUIREMENTS: 

BA/BS degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, or related field. 7+ years of expertise in designing, implementing and delivering value chain improvement programs for agri-business with two plus of those years focused on Small and Micro-Enterprises. 5+ years of previous experience working on USAID-funded or other international donor funded projects. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills and Experience: MA/MS in Agriculture, Economics, Business, or related field. 5+ years of proven ability to plan and implement programs under extremely difficult circumstances with little supervision. Demonstrated experience working with agribusinesses, farmers, and/or the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Afghanistan. Proven experience working successfully as part of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other organizations.

Deputy Chief of Party
Southern Afghanistan


 
IRD is expanding its global presence, and in preparation for this growth we are collecting resumes to build a strong candidate pool for possible job openings in the near future. IRD is seeking Deputy Chief of Party candidates for Southern Afghanistan.

The Deputy Chief of Party will be responsible for driving excellence in the following areas: technical direction and managerial oversight to an upcoming multi-year effort to develop agriculture in Southern Afghanistan. The DCOP candidate will serve as the driving force of the implementation of program activities and under the strategic direction of the Chief of Party, ensure the program meets all required targets and anticipated results. In addition, the DCOP will oversee development and implementation of administrative and operational procedures; strengthen finance, operations, and grant/ subcontracts management systems; ensure implementation supports the overall U.S. Government growth and stabilization strategies for southern Afghanistan; grow, mentor and aid the management of private sector and non-governmental Afghan partnering organizations and liaise with other foreign assistance implementing partners and the U.S. military to ensure streamlined programming of U.S. government assistance.

REQUIREMENTS: 

BA/BS degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, Public Policy, or related field. 10+ years of experience designing, implementing and delivering agriculture and/or economic stabilization programs of which two plus of those years were in a conflict zones. 5+ years of experience as a Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party on a donor funded international development project. 5+ years of demonstrated experience designing efficient, appropriate systems capable of accomplishing long-term goals. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills and Experience: MA/MS degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, Public Policy, or related field. 5+ years of proven ability to plan and implement programs under extremely difficult circumstances with little supervision. Demonstrated experience working with agribusinesses, farmers, and/or the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Afghanistan. USAID project management experience. Proficiency in Pashto or Dari. Strong knowledge of OMB 122, 133 and 22 CFR 226 and 22 CFR 228.

Economic Stabilization Advisor
Southern Afghanistan


IRD is expanding its global presence, and in preparation for this growth we are collecting resumes to build a strong candidate pool for possible job openings in the near future. IRD is seeking Economic Stabilization Advisor candidates for Southern Afghanistan.

The Economic Stabilization Advisor will be responsible for driving excellence in the following areas: mentoring and directing Afghan staff in the design and implementation of community stabilization focused programming in southern Afghanistan. In addition, the Economic Stabilization Advisor will partner with Afghan staff and the Government of Afghanistan to design and implement projects focused on bringing stability to conflict-prone areas in southern Afghanistan; guide, support and direct the implementation of stabilization-focused projects, including agricultural input distribution, irrigation canal cleaning, rural road rehabilitation, reservoir rehabilitation, large scale orchard maintenance, erosion protection, and other similar programming with a focus on jump-starting economic development at a district level; ensure economic programming supports the overall U.S. Government growth and stabilization strategies for southern Afghanistan; grow, mentor and aid the management of private sector and non-governmental Afghan partnering organizations in the successful implementation of program objectives and liaise with other foreign assistance implementing partners and the U.S. military to ensure streamlined programming of U.S. government assistance.
